Today I added to my positions in Vanguard All World ex-US (VEU) and Vanguard Emerging Markets (VWO). Both funds have recently pulled back, VEU is at its 20 day moving average (dma) and VWO is at its 50dma.
I’ve been in these funds all year and I expect the good performance to continue, at least through First Quarter 2018. If commodity prices hold, global growth should continue to improve and will likely grow at a faster rate than the USA.
For the past decade Emerging Markets have been in a long consolidation period. (see above chart) While the S&P500 recovered from the Great Recession in early 2013, Emerging Markets are just now reaching pre-recession highs. If Emerging Markets can break through this level of resistance, I believe the upside from here could be an additional 15-25%.
