It turns out that NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams wasn’t aboard an Army helicopter that was hit by enemy fire and crashed during the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
This “inaccuracy” has been promulgated by Williams for years [perhaps he’d been inspired by Hillary Clinton’s imaginary tale of sniper fire on the Bosnian tarmac in 1996]. Like Hillary, he only recently came clean because the truth came out. The Army crewmen who were aboard the helicopter that crashed have apparently grown tired of hearing Williams’ version and decided to publicly challenge is story.
Typical of a celebrity caught in a lie, Williams explained the “false narrative” by saying he had made a “mistake” and that, “I don’t know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another.”
CONFLATE…really? I’ll have to remember that one.
I only point this out, because as individual investors many of you are relying on TV as a primary source for news. In my opinion, when it comes to trading stocks, the only source of reliable data is the price and volume of a stock. Everything else is propaganda.
As to Williams’ future, I predict that Dan Rather will present him with the Edward R. Murrow award.
